Do you plan your illustrations on
paper before moving them to the computer? Do you dirty your hands
at all these days making pictures?
illoboy: I have to admit.. The only way I dirty my hands
is if/when I accidentally rub the pencil sketch before I scan
it in.
Do you think that the profession is under threat from clip art
illustration collections and other alternative 'cheap' ways to
fill a hole on a page ?
illoboy: Everybody is up in arms about it. So I guess
it is..But I am not sure. I just try to do my original art..
and do it well.
Do you think that digital illustration will suffer from a backlash
when illustrators and art directors rediscover the charms of
torn paper and masking tape? Will the airbrush make a comeback?
illoboy: There will always be a need for diversity in
art styles. You never know.. what comes around goes around.
Would you still create art if you weren't being paid to create
art?
illoboy: Yes. I don't know if it would be in galleries,
but I enjoy the process of creating very much.
What do you do when you are not working?
illoboy: scheming, dreaming, slacking, hacking..drinking,
thinking..rhyming, nickel-n-diming.. *heehee
What would you be doing if you hadn't become an illustrator?
illoboy: hard to say. I might still be working at that
newspaper as a pressman. I liked that job. It was hard work though.
I still LOVE the smell of fresh ink..
